"They just need to try harder." If you have heard that about someone with a learning disability, or about yourself, keep reading.

A learning disability is not about intelligence. It is about how the brain processes information. Reading. Numbers. Writing. Focus. Lifelong. Common. And invisible.

4 Myths, Busted Fast

Myth 1: "They are not smart."

Truth: Einstein, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Branson. Different brains, big success.

Myth 2: "They just need to work harder."

Truth: They often work twice as hard. The system is not built for them.

Myth 3: "Kids grow out of it."

Truth: Lifelong. Adults struggle too, with jobs, budgets, and leases.

Myth 4: "They cannot live independently."

Truth: With the right support? Absolutely they can. We see it every day in Detroit.

Why Housing Matters

Try reading a lease with dyslexia. Or paying bills with dyscalculia. Suddenly housing insecurity makes a lot more sense. That is why we teach life skills, not just school skills.

You Can Help

Stop calling people lazy. Listen before assuming. Support nonprofits doing the real work.

3,000+ Detroit students served. 140 parents reached. 110 families in self-esteem training.

One belief: understanding changes everything.
